Copper
Business Summary »
The main project of Salazar Resources is the Curipamba volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) project on the western flank of the Andes in Ecuador where the El Domo deposit has yielded an initial 43-101 compliant resource of 3 million tonnes at a grade of 3+ grams gold, 80+ grams silver, 3.25%+ copper and 4.15%+ zinc. El Domo has seen additional exploration success that expands the deposit since the initial resource was published and it is also possibly just one of several VMS “pods” located in the district.
The Metal Augmentor Take »
The key so far is grade with the resource having a high metal value per tonne that may allow a smaller, low cost and profitable operation to be built although the exploration goal for now is to find sufficient additional tonnage to make the Curipamba camp an attractive long-lived mining asset. El Domo by itself has potential value beyond the Salazar share price near C$1 as of early August 2011 based on the potentially solid economics that a moderate-sized operation might present especially if capital costs can be kept low. Metallurgy and process flow would be the major challenges to a low cost, low capital mine but the initial high grades are quite helpful in this regard.
